Fortunate
FORTUNATE...........................
I love you more said the daughter. No, I love you more said the mom, I saw you first.
today is my first born's "removal day". Yes she calls it her removal day because I had her c-section. she makes me laugh wanting to call it her removal day. most years she will ask me about the day she was born. it's been something she's done for a long time. my doctor induced labor with potocin because she didn't want to come out. she was nice and warm inside as it was cold in January in Atlanta. we were so close to the super bowl and everyone was concerned about the big game. my mom, my nana, my brothers, angelique, john and cissy and i'm sure a few others that have escaped me right now where there. i was in labor for over a day and i remember my doctor coming in and saying we can keep going this route or we can go ahead and do a c-section and i said cut me! We didn't want to find out if she was going to be a girl or a boy so we were way too excited to find out. while we were waiting for all this surgery to happen my mom came up to me and said it's going to be a girl which was funny because the whole time leading up to this she, along with everyone else, thought she was going to be a boy. I remember laying there semi awake while they were cutting away waiting to find out!! Then they finally said it's a girl! I will never forget the feeling of excitement of having a girl! Little did I know how amazing she was going to grow into.
Somedays it seems like this day was more than 18 years ago and sometimes it seems like it was just yesterday. Although as I sit here writing this and listening to three 18-20 year olds talking and laughing it reminds me this was 18 years ago. She's an adult and there are days I want her to be right back here and me being a stay at home mom because those days flew by but she's an adult and I love the person she is and I love hanging out with her.
She has always been one of my favorite subjects to photograph. She grew up in front of my camera and never wasn't camera ready. I love that sweet little face.
| Her favorite cake |
My mom used to make this cake when we were growing up and it's Cam's favorite! I just make it a little different with chocolate covered strawberries.
| Lexi and Frank |
Lexi and Cam have been best friends since 6th grade and they have been with each other through thick and thin. Lex is my daughter from another mother but I love this girl like she was my own and I'm thankful that Cam has her and has had her this whole time.
My mom came into town today and we spent the day shopping at Ikea for Cam's bedroom makeover! She wanted some big girl things that she can take with her to college and I think she wanted to eat the swedish meatballs too! I can't help but thinking as a mother I'm so fortunate to have her as a daughter. She's a compassionate young woman with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone. I don't think I could be any prouder of who she is and her beliefs. If this is who she is at 19 I can only imagine the woman she is going to grow to be and I feel like I'm just lucky to be in her life to watch it.
Happy 19th Birthday Cameron, Cam, Cami-Cam, Camers, Cambock, Junior, Mooka baby. I love you to the moon and back.
